Exploring Reykjavik on foot (and learning how to pronounce it)

Although Reykjavik is technically a cold, remote small port city, it’s actually an exciting hub of art, design, cafe culture and historial treasures. Reykjavik is also home base for most people’s amazing adventures in Iceland. This small city is actually one of the most interesting cities in Europe, with a very unique character. The Hallgrímskirkja … More Exploring Reykjavik on foot (and learning how to pronounce it)

Why I love Iceland

Wow. What a trip. We spent eleven tiring and exhilarating days up about as close to the Arctic Circle as I dare go – Iceland – a destination chosen simply because it seemed utterly different to anything we’d ever seen before. A country the size of South Korea, but with a scant 300,000 inhabitants (compared to Korea’s 50 million).

Vannes – a step back in time to medieval France

It was almost 2am when we finally arrived at Vannes station, on the west coast of France, by TGV. I was pretty excited at the thought of flashing through the countryside at 300km/h, turning cows, fields, and villages into one long smear of green and brown blurs. It was an art exhibition that opened up on 2nd … More Taronga Wild Rhinos – Sydney’s Painted Rhino Exhibit

Destination Europe

Quit the job, pack the bag, travel. It’s a pretty good summary of my 14-month round the world trip (even though these day’s it’s a bit cliché). What could be better, when you’re feeling stuck, bored at work, or aching for adventure. And guess what – i’m doing it again.

The sad transformation of Ubud

As we approached Ubud by car, I thought about Eat, Pray, Love. Leafy jungle roads, sunshowers, a community village feel. That was the preconception of Ubud I had in my head when we travelled to inland Bali for a few days. So we got there, and…wait a minute, where are all the rice terrace farms?

Sanur – the perfect Balinese relaxation town

Sanur is the perfect Balinese town to relax. It’s quiet, but has plenty of activities; it’s stylish, but not too expensive. Photogenic jukung fishing boats bob around in the calm waves, like rainbow water spiders. Crooked palm trees cast shade over an empty beach that leaves you wondering where all the people are. For those … More Sanur – the perfect Balinese relaxation town
